Gulam Altab

Gulam Altab is a promising researcher who recently submitted his PhD thesis on the role of non-coding RNA in the ageing of skeletal muscle and their impact on caloric restriction. During his PhD, Gulam’s project aimed to determine changes in non-coding RNAs during ageing in muscle in rats, identify key regulators and biomarkers, and test whether these changes are modulated by diet (caloric restriction).

Gulam also holds an MSC in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine and an MRes in Musculoskeletal Ageing. He has significant experience in growing and analysing senescent cells and studying miRNA, as well as a strong background in both the theoretical and practical aspects of researching ageing at the cellular and molecular level. His research experience and expertise make him an ideal candidate for this project.
